Knightsbridge

Knightsbridge

Working with Peter Tigg Architects and Rupert Cordle we completely gutted this lovely house in Knightsbridge.

The house is wedge shaped being in Egerton Crescent and quite narrow. That was our first challenge. Then we had to decide which floor to have the kitchen, how to integrate the children’s floor with the upper floors, how not to make a basement feel less underground. Answer…take off the whole of the back of the house! Enormous two storey glass doors pivot so that they are almost invisible when open. The kitchen became a gallery to the playroom and garden.

In effect we open planned the whole of the ground and lower ground floors. Add some mirrors and what was (dare I say) quite a pokey house transformed into a really beautiful generous space.
