Courchevel

Winner of France’s Best Ski Chalet at the World Ski Awards 2019, this chalet was built on the last plot of land available in Courchevel 1850.  This is an extensive ski-in/ski out chalet and is a collaboration between Todhunter Earle and Alireza Sagarchi of Stanhope Gate Architecture, working with locally based Jean-Phillipe Velghe-Michaux who managed the build. The London based family are passionate skiers and spend several weeks of the season in the mountains with their two teenage boys. Using oak planked walls together with traditional plaster and locally sourced stones, the interior is warm and inviting, contemporary yet relaxed. The spa/gym complex on the lower level includes the largest private pool in Courchevel, which is flooded with natural mountain light.  The client has said: ‘The chalet is absolutely gorgeous… I never knew that an interior designer could do a job like this, so tailor-made to my taste.’
