This Victorian house overlooking one of Notting Hill’s famous communal garden squares is a typical London town house. The house was neglected when our clients bought it and together with Flower Michelin Architects we helped them to reconfigure all five floors, and transform it into a comfortable and inviting family house, returning many original, internal architectural features. Like many houses of its period, it is tall and narrow but has plenty of natural light – perfect for bringing in bolts of colour and pattern. Characterful, vintage furniture is mixed with the traditional, which in turn is offset by boldly patterned fabrics, pale walls, eclectic lamps and Scandinavian prints. This was a very happy project and we are delighted with the result: a very English aesthetic imbued with a youthful spirit.
